Matt's first film role was in Hector Babenco's Ironweed. From this incredible first time performance, he went on to appear in Tim Robbins' Bob Roberts, Stanley Tucci's The Imposters, The Substance of Fire and Boys Don't Cry, Broken Hearts Club, The Anniversary Party with Alan Cumming and Jennifer Jason Leigh, and The Notorious Bettie Page.
The stage is where the spotlight has shined on Matt the brightest. He captivated Broadway with A Streetcar Named Desire and in the legendary Cabaret. Matt received an LA Weekly Award for Distant Fires, as well as industry and fan kudos as Hedwig in Hedwig and The Angry Inch and for The Black Rider, created by Robert Wilson, Tom Waits, and William S. Burroughs.
For those to whom he'll be a discovery – brace yourself. Alby is 100% proof in Matt's portrayal: maddening, selfish, painfully lost, and beautifully true.
